See behind the scenes at Wentworth Pewter with our new film POSTED MAY 8, 2017

See behind the scenes at Wentworth Pewter with our new film

POSTED MAY 8, 2017

When international filmmaker and photographer, Brendon Tyree approached us about producing a short film, we loved his work immediately and had no hesitation in saying yes. We knew he’d be able to put his creative eye to good use to portray the uniqueness of our handcrafted pewter pieces, the skills of our pewtersmiths and the atmosphere on the factory floor.

Brendon spent a day filming our craftsmen and women at work as they produce handmade pewter hip flasks, pewter tankards and other gifts. From spinning to grinding, hammering and polishing, we were delighted that such a talented film maker was able to capture pewtersmithing skills that have been around for hundreds of years and which we’re keeping alive here at our Sheffield factory. Brendon was equally pleased to see behind the scenes:

“It’s fascinating to see products literally come to life right in front of your eyes, but it’s also nice to work with the people too. At the end of the day I was buzzing with excitement, not just because of the awesome footage on the card, but also because of what a good day I’d had meeting and working with all those lovely people.”

We certainly enjoy showing our visitors round the factory. It’s fantastic to see the looks on their faces when they see the ease with which our team work pewter pieces into shape – a rare skill made all the more unusual by the fact that we’re one of the last remaining pewtersmiths in the UK. Not many people get the chance to see behind the scenes, so it’s great to have a film that gives them that experience.

Brendon produces stunning photography and film all over the world for a number of big name brands such as Heineken, Nike and closer to home, Sheffield Hallam University. His recent film about cycling the length of South America is currently being featured at several adventure travel film festivals which is super exciting. His next challenge is a documentary about an ex-Tour de France rider and current world champion who’s making a come back from a bad accident.

We’re honoured that he took the time out from his busy schedule to come and film in his hometown of Sheffield. We’re looking forward to showcasing the final cut at a couple of events in London next month.

As the products took shape, so did this beautiful film.
