Sponsoring the ‘oarsome’ University of Sheffield Rowing Club

We’re delighted to be sponsoring the University of Sheffield Rowing Club this year. Our support brings the club a big step closer to raising the funds they need to buy three new boats this year. It also means that they’ll have a number of our handmade tankards to give to their host clubs at nationwide events at Nottingham and Eton Dorney and international events such as Marlow Regatta.

 

If you ever happen to be at Damflask at 5am, you’ll catch this hardcore bunch practising their strokes up and down the reservoir – often training a whopping twice a day and six days a week. Their hard graft has already paid off as they rowed to victory against Sheffield Hallam University in the Varsity Challenge last month.

With our logo in pride of place on the back of the club’s kit, we hope we’ll bring them good luck as they attend high profile rowing competitions across the country. This includes the British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) Regatta, the largest regatta in Europe at the end of April, then the internationally acclaimed Henley Women’s Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta in June.

We’ve grown massively as a club in the past few years, doing better and better on the national stage, and we really hope to make the city proud. Having a sponsor from our city helps massively with this, as we feel we can represent ourselves and Wentworth Pewter, and therefore Sheffield in increasingly positive ways as we continue to push to the upper levels of University rowing. We hope it’s the beginning of a great partnership!”
